The primary source of protein in this wet cat food appears to be tuna.
It features tuna with broth and a touch of rice in this canned food. It’s that. There are no supplemental ingredients, added oils, or added flavours in the food.
Although it looks like a meat-centric recipe at first glance and the epitome of feline-appropriate nutrition, that third and final ingredient has a major effect. On the basis of dry matter, the carbohydrate content of this food seems to sit somewhere around 14 percent.
Overall, high protein, low fat, and moderate carbohydrate content are found in this food.
The inclusion of rice seems uncalled for for foods with only three ingredients and which prides itself on simplicity. Excessive starch makes this food an unsuitable choice for the species.

As its main ingredient, this mousse style food features puréed tuna. “The tuna is mixed with sardines, which are also broken down into “visible flecks” described by Applaws. It’s a combination of carrageenan and locust bean gum to hold all of this together. Both of these are plant-sourced gums that help to thicken and stabilize food.
Carrageenan has a long reputation for causing or worsening inflammation, while locust bean gum appears to be safe. It is not necessarily harmful, but it is an ingredient we would rather avoid because of its potential for harm.
Overall, with low fat and moderate carbohydrate content, this dry food has a high protein content.
